Associate Digital Accessibility Specialist

You will gain hands on experience working with the Digital Accessibility team's projects including the accessibility testing of digital properties, inclusion and inclusive design advocacy, awareness of regulations and laws as they pertain to compliance needs, and accessibility testing protocols and reporting standards. Key Responsibilities:
- Learn and understand Web Content and Mobile Accessibility Standards and Laws.
- Assist in testing websites and mobile applications for accessibility compliance (e.g., WCAG 2.0 Level A/AA, Section 508).
- Document accessibility findings for review by developers and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with team members to resolve identified accessibility issues.
- Retest digital products after fixes to ensure issues are properly addressed.
- Stay updated on the latest accessibility technologies and trends.
- Support the team in educating others on accessibility best practices.
- Advocate for accessibility considerations in product development phases.
- Participate in training and awareness sessions on accessibility topics.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Basic knowledge of digital accessibility and inclusion.
- Familiarity with assistive technologies used for web browsing (e.g., JAWS, NVDA).
- Willingness to learn and carry out accessibility testing of web and mobile applications.
- Basic understanding of online accessibility tools (e.g., Accessibility Scanner, Accessibility Inspector).
- Awareness of regulations related to digital accessibility (e.g., Section 508, ADA).
- Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 or higher AA requirements.
- Interest in using accessibility evaluation tools and frameworks.
- Basic experience with assistive technologies (e.g., VoiceOver, JAWS, Dragon Naturally Speaking).
Preferred:
- Basic knowledge of web technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
- Interest in professional training in using assistive technologies.
- Experience or interest in conducting usability tests with participants who have accessibility challenges.
